all i want in life . . .

is to have a super cute beach cruiser and ride around at the beach. Who wouldn't want to do this? It's so relaxing.

Having a Paul Frank "julius" cruiser wouldn't hurt either . . .

or even the "scurvy" Paul Frank version . . .

and you can never go wrong with anything Hello Kitty when it comes to me.

I hope one day my summer beach cruising dreams will come true.

Michelle's Videos

Last week my family (mom, dad & sis) came for a visit during their road trip. We went to park city one day. It was their first time. We went to the outlets which were a success. Then we went downtown for lunch and window shopping. The last stop was the Olympic Training Center where we watched skiers fly down the mtn onto a jump to do tricks in the air and fall into the pool. Very entertaining! It really was. Josh is determined to go back and jump off with his snowboard. In the evening we went to the Pioneer Commemoration Concert. The Mormon Tabernacle Choir sang and the orchestra played and it was actually pretty cool.

Below is a little video created by Josh staring Michelle. He took it with his phone and edited in iMovie. Not bad for a phone video! They had a lot of fun making the video.

The second day we went to Raging Waters! It was sooooo fun. I hadn't been to a water park in like 5 years with my family. We used to go to Soak City (White Water Canyon) a lot when I was in middle school and high school. This park really different then a california water park. I hardly heard a whistle being blown. in CA if you look weird you get a whistle blown at you. Its dumb. They had something for everyone. I loved the rope swing and slide that threw me into the air a few feet and then dropped me into the water. But mostly I loved the lazy river. When I'm rich and famous; i'll be placing one around the perimeter of my mansion.

Here is another video about the day.

It was really fun to have my family in town for a few days.

New Wall

It's amazing how paint can make a room look so much better. The old wall was a light peachy almost white color and it was boring. This is our new chocolate brown wall which is not boring. We painted it yesterday and we love it! I sometimes can't get enough of chocolate brown, light blue, white and hints of grey, can you tell?

3 Stores

I was thinking the other day how much I LOVE certain stores. I then narrowed it down to 3. If all other stores were suddenly gone it would be ok because H&M, Target and Ikea would exist and all of my shopping needs would be met. I'll break it down.

H&M has my kind of clothes. And they fit. They make amazing jeans, dresses, skirts, tops, accessories and are now coming out with shoes. They are stylish, made well and are priced very fairly. Plus they have awesome mens clothes also which Josh loves. Utah really needs to get a H&M.

Target, need I say more? I can't get enough of Target sometimes. I do my grocery shopping, music, cleaning, clothes, some decorating and other misc. shopping. They make shopping wonderful. Their prices and quality are great. I love that I can get the majority of my shopping done in one place. Even their coupon booklets are well designed (which speaks volumes for me).

There is no doubt about Josh and I LOVING IKEA. Last weekend Ikea hooked us up again, during their Seize the Days (50% off the sale price on select items) sale. We have been shopping around for living room furniture and haven't found what we have had in mind. I have had my eye on the Makor set from ikea, but I didn't think it was made out of real wood. I was wrong, its made out of solid wood! So two weeks ago we got the Seize the Days flyer in the mail and the Makor set was half off! We were one of the first people at Ikea last saturday morning and snagged a new TV stand and 2 end tables for under $300.00! How can you not love ikea? Most TV stands alone are about 500.00. This is just one of the many reasons we love Ikea. They have some great prices and we love their modern design. Plus the layout of the store is genius. I love well designed/thought out shopping experiences. Its perfect useable modern design. Oh how we love swedish design.

Imbarrasing

I fought the urge for a long time. I read the first Twilight book over a year ago and I didn't think it was all that great. I was like here is another LDS author making tons of money on a crappy sappy book. But I was WRONG! I got a library card a few weeks ago and checked out the rest of the series. I read one book a week. They took over my life and it was great. It was a great way to ween me off of TV too. I fell in love with the books and the characters.

My sudden urge to read all of the books came from seeing the new movie trailer for the second book. When Jacob turned into a wolf I was like, what!?! I must see how this happens. It just got better and better as the books went on. I feel a little embarrassed about my recent obsession with reading all of the books. One of my co-workers said, "wait, your embarrassed about reading the Twilight series, but not Tori Spellings book." Yep.

Next is Lady Gaga. For those of you who know me on a musical level I run away from pop music. This is because most of it is terrible and predictable. However I think pop music 'might' possibly change back to being good one day. Like Lady Gaga. I can't get enough of "Dance, Dance!"

These are 2 uncharacteristic things that I have liked this past month. Maybe the hot summer heat is getting to me?

Seven Eleven, Oh Nine

Ormond Family 7.11.2009

Two weekends ago all of the Ormonds were in Pocatello. It was a lot of fun to spend time with everyone. Joshes family is hilarious, everyone is really fun/funny.

One of my favorite parts was the hike up Scout Mountain. It was really pretty at the top. However I didn't enjoy the mosquitos biting me.

The video

Wakeboarding 4th of July from Josh Ormond on Vimeo.

Yes we have been on the Inter-webs for a year and a half now. Pretty crazy no doubt. Last year at this time we weren't having much fun. We were living in Layton, in an apartment we hated, with little contact with friends, and not much to do. Unfortunate I know. Fast forward to this year and my how things have changed. Living in a house with out homicidal malcontents as neighbors, friends all over the place up and down the Wasatch front (and Idaho), and activities galore. This has been a much better summer than last in every way. Well a lot has been shaking in the Bountiful chapter of the Ormond club. Work for both of us is good and busy. I'm starting to write a lot more at my job. I'm splitting my time 50/50 between proofing and writing and yes it is everything I dreamed it would be. Not even kidding. I love writing and I love my job. Natalie is equally as ebullient about her work. She has done some stellar work that she is really proud of and has been praised by her coworkers. But what can you expect with someone as talented (and crazy beautiful) as her?

The summer has been full of activities and has no signs of slowing down. We've gone to San Diego for a week in June. And we'll be returning in August. We also went to a Major League Soccer game in Salt Lake. It was a blast and the REAL won 3 to 0. Can't beat that!

We have avoided catching the swine flu; so that's always a positive when you can avoid communicable diseases right? I have caught a fever of sorts. A bike fever. Yes I have been converted to the ways of the two wheeled mountain climbing class. I seriously can't get enough. To illustrate my chain love craziness I have been waking up at 6:30 in the morning two times a week to go ride with a group of friends. Yeah I know, 6:30 in the morning; it's weird but I actually enjoy it. It helps that I bought a new bike and it is sa-weet.

I've also found a group of guys my age that go skate every Thursday night. So I've been skating with them for a few weeks now and it is so much fun to be with guys my age and skill level that just love to skate. It has been so fun.

This weekend was the 4th of july. Last year was pretty fun, I'll admit it. But this year was amazing. Our friend Scott invited us to go boating at Utah Lake in the morning. So we said "Sure. We like water." So we went and had a cosmic blast. I'd never wakeboarded and neither had Natalie but figured we'd give it a try. Natalie was able to get up and ride after only 5 trys. She loved it and can't wait to go again. I was eventually able to get up and ride too, but it took me a lot more than 5 trys. Wakeboarding is a lot of fun and feels really similar to snowboarding. I got a little ahead of myself and kept trying to jump off the wake. And smashing your head into water while wakeboarding is a lot like smashing your head into the mountain when snowboarding. The similarities are astounding. We had a great time. (I have video of us at the lake but Blogger won't let me upload it yet. stay tuned.)

From Utah Lake we drove back to our place just to turn back around and head to Oakley, Utah. JD and Kallie invited us up to hang out at JD's parents house. And that was way fun too. Hanging with them is always a fun time.

So that about wraps it up so far. Next week we are heading to Pocatello. My parents have blown the rams horn of gathering from the tops of the ancestrial hills. Everyone is returing like salmon to the land of their birth. It's going to be fun to be with all my brothers and sisters. We rarely get to be in the same place at the same time any more.

100th Post

We have had our Cephaloblog for about a year and 6 months. And we have hit a landmark, THE 100th Post!!! I figured the blog needed a facelift so i designed a new header. This time it features 2 Cephalopods instead of 1. I feel like I need to have something super duper exciting/crazy to post about, but lets be honest I really don't. :) So just pretend the Blogs new look is super duper exciting/crazy.
