I'm a Gleek

In my opinion, the best new TV show this year was Glee. Josh and I fell hard for this show. We are madly in love with it.

I love their music selection.
I love how funny the show is.
I love how serious the show is.
I love how Glee portrays life as a High Schooler. They do an awesome job at it.
I love the cast.
I love the real life "issues" they feature.

I never thought I was a big fan of musicals because certain ones make me feel uncomfortable. They have to be the right type of music and Glees selection is fantastic.

My favorite character is Sue Sylvester the Cheerios (cheer) coach. She is William Shuesters arch-nemesis. Their dialog is fantastic. Here is an example:

Sue to William: "You'll be adding revenge to the long list of things you're no good at, right next to being married, running a high school glee club and finding a hairstyle that doesn't look like a lesbian."

I still crack up when I remember that line. I also like her soft side. In one episode she is holding Cheerios tryouts. A girl with Downs Syndrome tries out and I totally thought she was going to be a jerk to her. She did the opposite and let her join. There was a scene later in the episode where she is having a one on one practice with her and is using the megaphone to tell her that she needs to try harder. The girl doesn't cry but has a huge smile. William is eavesdropping and tells Sue that she can't treat her like that. Sue then says they just want to be treated like everyone else. I then started crying. What a TRUE statement. Turns out she has a disabled sister with Downs Syndrome.

Since I have a disabled or special needs (or whatever the latest word is) sister I totally understood what she was saying. People with disabilities want to fit in just as bad as someone without disabilities. I thought it was really cool for a show to be brave and have someone with a disability. And even more to teach the viewers to give people with disabilities a chance to fit in.

In conclusion I really love this show. I think its fantastic. Everyone should watch it. Plus the season finale episode with the Journey number was (as Sue would say) Out (pause) Standing!

Yeah, I'm a fan. I love the music! I'm just glad the awkward "fake" pregnancy storyline is over! Lol, that was just stressing me out.
